Happy Christmas Eve! Above is my tablescape for this year’s dining room table. It features a variety of items in different textures. Out of everything on the table, only three items were bought this year; everything else we already owned. I prefer to use things we already own as much as possible not only because it’s more economical, but also the items have more meaning. In addition, the crystal bowl behind the town scene is filled with brightly colored bulbs and bows, which brings together both traditional and modern holiday colors. Happy (belated) Thanksgiving
Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! Below is a photo of my less-is-more approach to this year’s Thanksgiving table. It features a large crystal bowl filled with silk flowers and various types of stems, a crystal vase, a hand-blown glass pumpkin, a white and gold church, miniature pumpkins and gourds, and maple leaves. In addition, all of the items were things I already owned, proving that you don’t need to constantly buy new things to have stylish decor. Abstract Art at Home
The photo on the right is an abstract piece of art at my local university. It’s affixed to a pair of gates leading to the campus’ church. While I’m not sure what this piece is supposed to represent (I believe it was an interpretation of a bird), it’s still nice to see the whimsy in such pieces of art. While most of us can’t afford a custom piece of art, you can certainly use a photo of one in your own space. Feeling creative? Try making your own abstract art at home! You can use any medium: clay, paper, paint, wood, or glass. No matter how you go about it, you can easily bring abstract art into your space!
Doors as Art: Land
Have you ever gone into an old historic building or church and noticed the artfully decorated doors? Decorative doors are rarely seen today, but are such pieces of art. Like the look but have no place to put such large doors? In order to display one in your home, the best thing to do is take a picture! If it’s a large door (the one pictured is about three stories tall), take pictures of multiple panels. This particular door features a farm scene (each door has a different theme). If you take multiple pictures, you can hang them together in a pattern on your wall. What are you waiting for? Find a decorative door and snap away!
