Enjoying the Holidays Outside

Hello readers! It’s been awhile since my last post (2020, right?), but I thank you all for hanging in there with me! Since it’s the holiday season, I decided to showcase an awesome outdoor display. Outdoor displays are a great way to enjoy the holidays in a pubic place while social distancing. A great example is the photo on the left, which was taken at a local city park. The trees were draped in lights, in addition to a stage and other holiday displays. The park has several walking paths, which allow people to enjoy the displays at various points throughout the park. The best part? You can capture this fun adventure with lots of pictures to commemorate your trip. Print them out and display on a shelf to create a sleek look with your night photography. Want something bolder? Pick your favorite photo and blow it up to poster size, then use it as a focal point in a living room. No matter which option you choose, you’ll create a cool vibe that’s perfect for winter.

Sailing into Sunday

Sailboats on the soundDespite the chilly temperatures, there are still opportunities to get outside. On a recent trip to a local park, I saw a group of boaters taking advantage of the slightly warmer weather. Pictures like these are perfect this time of year because it gives you a sense of the warmer weather to come. Adding a similar photo to your decor gives an unexpected pop of spring to any room. Remember, no matter the time of year or the weather, you can also use a photo of the outdoors to bring any season into your space.

The Creek that Never Was

Trees with faux creekStaring out the window you can’t help but notice the mature trees and what looks like a small, dried up creek. It reality, this meandering indentation is a trench for an underground pipe. After installation, the trench was never filled in. As a result, I’m left with a beautiful picture of a faux creek meandering through trees! A similar picture is a great way to bring the outdoors into any room. As I’ve said in previous posts, optical illusions can provide great photographs and fun stories. No matter where you are, you’re sure to find an optical illusion that will be the perfect addition to your space!

A Sunset at the Ocean

Sunset at the oceanWhat a view-nothing like a sunset at the beach! Though they take a bit of planning, sunset photos are a must-have for anyone that wants to bring the outdoors into their space. Sunsets provide a myriad of colors that are sure to go with whatever decorating scheme you’re using. The surrounding area-ocean, forest, river, or city-can provide an additional backdrop to your photo. No matter what colors you want to decorate with, a sunset will provide all the inspiration you need.

Trees in Bloom

Flowering PoplarAbout two weeks ago I was taking a walk during lunch, when I looked up and saw something unusual. It appeared that a tree had a blooming flower on it! I wasn’t sure what type of tree it was, so I decided to do some investigating. After doing some research, I found out the tree was a Tulip Poplar. Displaying photos of unusual plants is a great way to add interest and color to your space. You could display several smaller pictures on a wall or bookshelf, or use one large photo as a focal point in the room. Next time you’re enjoying the great outdoors, pay attention to unusual plants that may be hiding in plain sight. If you do, you’ll be able to capture a photo of a unique plant that will give you something new to decorate your space with!

Reaching Out Towards the Sun

Tree reaching towards sunAs I walked along a path I noticed a tree that seemed to be reaching out from the ground towards the sun. As pictured on the right, the tree was fairly large, covered in moss, and part of it illuminated by the sun. Not only do the earth tones go with anything, but it’s just a cool picture! As I’ve said before, nature can be both a focal point in any space and a great inspiration. No matter what you can capture with your camera, you’re sure to find a way to bring the outdoors into any space!
