Hello readers! It’s been awhile since my last post (2020, right?), but I thank you all for hanging in there with me! Since it’s the holiday season, I decided to showcase an awesome outdoor display. Outdoor displays are a great way to enjoy the holidays in a pubic place while social distancing. A great example is the photo on the left, which was taken at a local city park. The trees were draped in lights, in addition to a stage and other holiday displays. The park has several walking paths, which allow people to enjoy the displays at various points throughout the park. The best part? You can capture this fun adventure with lots of pictures to commemorate your trip. Print them out and display on a shelf to create a sleek look with your night photography. Want something bolder? Pick your favorite photo and blow it up to poster size, then use it as a focal point in a living room. No matter which option you choose, you’ll create a cool vibe that’s perfect for winter.
Despite the chilly temperatures, there are still opportunities to get outside. On a recent trip to a local park, I saw a group of boaters taking advantage of the slightly warmer weather. Pictures like these are perfect this time of year because it gives you a sense of the warmer weather to come. Adding a similar photo to your decor gives an unexpected pop of spring to any room. Remember, no matter the time of year or the weather, you can also use a photo of the outdoors to bring any season into your space.
Welcome to my first video of 2016! It was taken on the same day I took the picture featured in my previous post. I hope you enjoy my video, and find inspiration from the snowy weather!
When I saw this antique postal box in a building, I thought it was the coolest thing ever! While it’s no longer in use, the postal box has been kept in perfect condition over the years. Vintage items like this are great conversation pieces, and also makes you think about the craftsmanship we use to put into everyday items. Looking to add some vintage charm of your own? There are several ways you can get the vintage postal look for your own space! One option is to take a photo of a vintage mail box and hang it on your wall. You’ll find these types of mail boxes in historic or old government buildings. Interested in something more authentic and 3-D? There are several companies that sell antique and replica vintage postal boxes that you can purchase and install in your home (or even outside). No matter which way you choose to show off your vintage tastes, you’ll have a conversation piece that will entertain your guests for years to come!
Once again, I want to give a big thanks to everyone who read my 200th post! Keep frequenting my blog for more great ideas and inspiration!
The other day I was reminded that even on a cloudy day, nature can still provide a bit of sunshine. As I exited the building where I work, I saw these beautiful daffodils flanking the entrance. Since I had my camera on me, I decided to snap a photo. It was a great reminder of nicer weather, and the flower itself is quite a cheery color. No matter how bad the weather there’s always some part of nature that will remind us of sunshine. Just like in life, we should always try to find the sunny side when our world is full of clouds.
About a week or so ago I decided to stay up late. Before I went to bed, I decided to check and see if I could view the moon from my window. Luckily, I was able to get a great shot of the moon surrounded by clouds. I love the glow of the moon and how the surrounding clouds are lit by moonlight. It has a cool, calm color palette and is perfect for any space. You can easily take a similar moon photo to display in your own space. While I was able to take this shot from my window, you might have to go outside to get the best picture. Once you find a location and angle that suits the type of photo you want, start taking pictures! Next, all you need is to pick out a frame and display your photo. You’ll not only have a gorgeous photo, but a conversation piece that all who see it will enjoy.
