Welcome to my first post of the year! I’m starting off by showcasing a picture featuring one of my local snow-covered streets. While winter might not be your favorite season, it can nonetheless lead to capturing great photos to use in your decor. The neutral look of a snowy picture makes a great addition to a den, bedroom, or living room. Not ready to bring the cold inside? Save your snowy photos and use them to update your space during the warmer months. No matter the weather, you can always use the wonder of nature to add a special touch to your home.

Brick and Stone
As someone who loves architecture, I couldn’t help but notice the striking combination of brick and stone on a nearby building. The majority of the building’s façade is made up of bricks laid horizontally, with those above the windows laid vertically. The top portion features a plain stone band, with a second band of carved stone below it. The reason this works is because the building’s brick isn’t your typical red variety. It’s a softer color variation that allows the stone bands to pair well in the overall design. In addition, the carved stone creates a unique architectural element that gives an elegant twist to an otherwise ordinary building. You can create a similar look by adding a border to any room in your home. Borders are an easy way to add interest to a space without investing a lot of time or money. With a little imagination, you can add a special touch to any space!
Decorating with Underwater Photography: Part 1
Capturing sea life in its natural environment is an amazing feat that most photographers don’t get the chance to accomplish. Going diving, procuring a waterproof camera, and finding the perfect location can be both expensive and time-consuming. But if you’ve ever dreamed of underwater photography, there’s a simple solution-go to an aquarium! The shipwreck I captured above was actually part of a special exhibit. This exhibit allowed me to create the look of underwater photography without leaving the comfort of dry land. A similar photo would look great as a focal point on a wall! The soothing blue of the water and pops of color from the sea life and ship’s wheel make this a unique photo that will grab any guests’ attention. Stay tuned for more underwater photos that will serve to inspire and bring out the best your space has to offer!
