Like the sign in my previous post, this is a sign you can have a lot of fun with. There are so many different places you can display a similar sign in your space. It would look great in a garage or carport, bedroom, bathroom, or even a laundry room. Group it together with other impound-related or no parking signs to bring a unique look any room. Stay tuned for more ways to bring the unique look of street signs into your home!

Decorating with Street Signs: Part 3
While the typical traffic signs are the usual choice for decorating, you can add a interesting twist by incorporating traffic signs. A limited-time parking sign would look great in a kitchen, bathroom, or garage. It’s a great choice for a room that has a lot of foot traffic. In addition, the blue background with white letters provides the perfect pop of color to any wall. There are a myriad of parking signs, so no matter your color scheme, you’ll find a sign that fits perfectly with your space!
Decorating with Street Signs: Part 2
Keeping with the theme of my previous post, this post features the lanes leading into a traffic circle. Although not a traffic sign, this would be a great addition to a traffic circle-themed wall. In addition, the gray of the road in conjunction with the white paint create a classic color palette that will blend in to your decor. You could create an international wall collage by displaying pictures of traffic circle-related photos from roads all around the world. A collection of signs in multiple languages will give your space a unique look that few could replicate. No matter where you live, you can create a great space featuring the unique signage of the world around you!
Decorating with Street Signs: Part 1
Every so often I come across someone who likes to decorate a room using road signs. While you may want to create a similar look, the only way to legally obtain road signs is by purchasing them at an antique mall. However, I know from personal experience, that it can quite difficult to find these old signs. The solution? Use photos of street signs instead! My first post in this series features a sign commonly used in traffic circles. This type of sign would give a great retro feel to a kitchen, stairwell, or other areas where people tend to congregate. In addition, the foliage in the background makes the sign pop even more. It’s the perfect combination of neutrals and a pop of color all in one shot. Stay tuned for more ideas in this series of decorating with street signs!
The Alien-Landscape Beach: A Close-up
Pictured on the right is a close-up of the rocky shores seen in my previous post. It’s amazing to see how the seaweed covered rocks have been formed and shaped after centuries of being hit by waves. Such a unique photo is not only a great focal point, but also a great conversation starter in any space. If you have several photos of the same type of landscape, you can arrange a series of photos on a wall, or split them up between several different rooms. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July, and that you’ll find great inspiration to brighten up your space.
The Alien-Landscape Beach
Anyone who goes to the same beach year after year will inevitably see the landscape change. Sometimes there are dunes, driftwood, or even the shifting of an entire creek that flows into the ocean. Sometimes, the shift is more dramatic. The picture on the right is one such example. Over the years, the sand has shifted and eroded to reveal an alien-like rocky landscape. The oddly shaped rocks, covered in seaweed, create a striking contrast to the blue and white waves of the ocean and the expansive sky. Whether you’d use your photo as a focal point, or add it to a grouping of similar photos, you can create an otherworldly feel by using the wonders of nature!
Footsteps in the Sand
As the weather here goes between sunny, to rainy, to back again, I decided to share a photo from my previous vacation. The sandy stretch of beach, full of footprints, is just the place you want to spend the weekend! This photo is the perfect combination of sand, sea, and sky. That’s the nice thing about vacation photos-they can remind you of happy times when you were able to relax without a care in the world. If you have vacation photos, frame several of them and cluster them on a table or shelf. Not only will they add a new element to your space, but it’s also a great way to remind you of fun times. Have a great weekend, everybody!
The Forest in the Tree
One sunny day I was walking underneath a large, old tree and noticed something interesting on one of the branches. As seen on the right, it looks like a mini forest! The combination of the bright green fern with sun streaming through its leaves, the mountainous landscape of the branch, and white flowers in the background make this an awesome shot. You can shoot a similar picture by checking out your local old growth trees. They may be hard to find depending on where you live, but if you explore a state park or area that features historic buildings, you’ll have a better chance of finding what you want. Now is the perfect time to snap pictures you can use to update your space. Whether hung on a wall or simply used for inspiration, you can snap a beautiful picture to usher in Spring!
The Snowcapped Mountain Backdrop
Looking in the distance on a warm spring day, I was struck by how much snow was still on the mountains. I like the contrast of the snowcapped peaks on a warm, sunny day-so I decided to snap this photo! The cool shades of blue, pops of white, and earth tones make this picture the perfect trifecta! This is the perfect time of year to snap a similar photo of your very own. Once you snap your picture, all that’s left is to figure out where to display it. Depending on the size you choose, you could put it on a shelf, display it in a living room, or use it to add a bit of color to a hallway. No matter how you decide to display it, you can create a custom piece of art that will look great in any of your spaces!
Classic Blue and White: Inspiration from Nature
As I’ve stated in previous posts, you can find lots of inspiration from nature and what’s around you. An example is the classic blue and white color palette. The inspiration? The sky! This color combination provides just the right amount of brightness, while also being able to blend into one’s current decor. In addition, there are so many different shades of blue, that you’re sure to find one that’s a perfect fit for your space. You can go all out and have an entire room in blue and white, or you can add just a few accessories. Take a picture of the sky and hang it prominently on a wall, create a cluster of blue and white vases, add throw pillows, or add a new rug to a room. No matter how much blue and white you decide to use, you’re sure to create a bright and airy feel in your space!
