There’s nothing like looking out the window on a rainy day! What immediately comes to mind is the sight of raindrops dripping down the window, the sound of gusting wind, and the image of trees swaying. But why wait for a rainy day when you can get the same effect by watching my video? My second video, Rainy Day, is now available on my YouTube channel. You can access it via the My Videos page, or by clicking the image below. Enjoy!

The Dining Room Window at Christmas
Hello, and hope you all had a Merry Christmas! For today’s post, I’ll be sharing how I decorated the dining room window. As seen above, I decided to go with a snowflake theme! I used pink, blue, green, and red snowflakes for the window and wall. Additionally, I added two silver flowers and a gold ornament to tie it to the theme I used on the Christmas tree. The items I used can be found at big box and dollar stores-a great and economical way to dress up any window! Though Christmas is over, you can still do something similar for New Year’s. And what’s easier than dressing up a window? No matter what 2015-themed decorations you decide to use, you’ll be sure to ring in the new year in style!
Thanksgiving Decor: Part 3
In my previous two posts I concentrated on decor in my living room (accent wall and above the window). In this post, I’ll be showing you how I decorated the dining room. I’ll start by showing you the space above our painting. This space is great for decorating, so I usually put something in this area for major holidays. As seen below, I use Happy Thanksgiving signs, foliage, and autumn food to decorate this area.
Next, we’ll look at the chandelier and window. Like the living room, I used garland to decorate the space above the window. I also used a smaller, shorter garland and wrapped it around the chandelier. When decorating a chandelier, it’s important to use light-weight items and make sure they don’t come in contact with any of the lights.

Thanksgiving Decor: Part 2
Welcome to my second post on Thanksgiving decor! In this post I’ll demonstrate how you can easily dress up the space above your window. As seen below, I added two autumn garlands, along with a fanciful turkey, above the windows in the living room.
This is an easy, inexpensive way to dress up a window and add a bit of interest to an otherwise blank space. As in my previous post, the garland is affixed to the wall with painter’s tape. This type of garland can be found at craft stores, and similar turkey decorations can be found at big box party stores. Remember, adding interest to a window is a great way to dress up your space and create a cohesive feel throughout your home!
A Moonlit Night through the Clouds
About a week or so ago I decided to stay up late. Before I went to bed, I decided to check and see if I could view the moon from my window. Luckily, I was able to get a great shot of the moon surrounded by clouds. I love the glow of the moon and how the surrounding clouds are lit by moonlight. It has a cool, calm color palette and is perfect for any space. You can easily take a similar moon photo to display in your own space. While I was able to take this shot from my window, you might have to go outside to get the best picture. Once you find a location and angle that suits the type of photo you want, start taking pictures! Next, all you need is to pick out a frame and display your photo. You’ll not only have a gorgeous photo, but a conversation piece that all who see it will enjoy.
Rain and Sun through the Window
Last week the weather here was kind of sporadic. We dealt with a combination rain, wind, and sun throughout the week. One afternoon I looked up and noticed droplets of rain on my window, along with the bright sun peeking out from behind the clouds. I thought it was a pretty cool shot, so I took a photo! We’ve all seen similar pictures in galleries, so why buy those when you can create your own? You can easily create and display a similar picture in your space. All you really need is a window and the weather of your choice. Whether you chose a scene reminiscent of spring, summer, winter, or fall, you’ll create a gallery-worthy look that’s all your own!
Frame a Window
As I said in a previous post, I work in a cubicle with no window. Besides creating my own window, another solution is to frame the picture of a window. I took this photo of an ornate window on a clear, sunny day. Not only will I have a new piece of art in my cubicle, but I’ll also have the illusion of a real window. Whether the window you use looks out onto the sea, a mountain, the sky, or somewhere else, you, too can create an awesome view!.
Give Your Cubicle A Window
Do you, like me, currently work in a cubicle? If so, you know what’s it’s like to not have a real window. My solution? Create your own! I used color paper to create grass, trees, a bush, sun, and clouds in my cubicle window. Not only did this allow me to be creative, but also gives me something nice to look at-plus I’ve already received several compliments on my work. Have a faux window in your cubicle? Try creating your own window this week. You’ll be surprise how much you, and others, will enjoy it.
Art Deco: Transom Windows
In the same building where the light fixture in my previous post was located, they also had these beautiful art deco transom windows. Once again keeping it subtle, these were only featured over the entrances into the building and from the foyer into the main hallway. Unfortunately, most modern buildings don’t have transom windows. Do you have transom windows in your home? If so, show them off and enjoy their classic features! Like transom windows but can’t afford a renovation? Try a stained glass kit from your local craft store. You can take your creation and hang it at the top of your window to mimic a transom window. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
Decorate Your Windows
Though it might seem daunting, decorating your windows can be easy. For the window in the dining room I took extra bulbs (pink, gold, green, purple, and blue) and hung them from the curtain rod. In the center of the window I hung a glittery silver bell. I then hung a string of gold bells and topped them with red bows. Instant transformation! Using extra ornaments you already have in new ways is a great way to add interest and decoration to your windows.
