One evening, my Mom called me over to the window to view the glowing clouds during a sunset. I love the various shades of orange, red, purple, and blue! The trees appear to frame the photo, creating a unique shot. If you have a favorite time of day when you think the sky looks its best, take a photo and display it prominently in your home. This will not only allow you to show off your photography skills, but you’ll also have a great addition to your wall. Displaying a photo on your wall is a great way to bring new life into an old space. No matter if it’s sunrise, sunset, or high noon, you’ll find the perfect time to photograph the perfect sky!

Dew Drops Reflecting the World
Hello, and welcome to my 200th post! I want to give a big thanks to all of my readers and followers who have supported my blog thus far! I wanted to have a really cool picture for this post, and I think I’ve got it with the picture above. I noticed several drops of dew as I was walking toward work, and decided it would be a great opportunity to take an awesome picture. The glossy water really stands out against the matte leaves. If you look closely, you can see the clouds and sky reflected in the water droplets. I felt this simple, yet complicated image, was a great way to celebrate my 200th post! Looking forward to creating more posts that provide lots of inspiration for your space!
The Blazing Cloud
It’s amazing the things you see at sunset. The clouds and sky become an array of colors. The photo on the right is an example of a cloud that’s illuminated by the setting sun. This is one of a group of clouds that was blazing across the evening sky. I love how the bottom of the cloud looks like it’s filled with fire, while the top is dark, preparing for nightfall. This contrast highlights how different colors can go so well together. If you want to create a similar contrast in your own space, there are several different combinations you can try: gold and grey, navy and bright green, grey and pink, or the classic black and white. Using contrasting colors allows you to have the best of both worlds: a pop of color and a neutral to balance it out. No matter what color combination you choose, you’ll have a perfectly paired space that’s all you!
Cherry Blossoms and Blue Sky
Around the same time I took the picture my previous post, I decided to take a photo of the upper portion of the Cherry tree with the sky in the background. I love the pop of the pink blossoms against the blue sky! A similar photo would be great to add a pop of color to any space. You could use it as a focal point on a wall, or put the picture on a shelf or table. It would go with rooms that featured hues in pink or blue, and would be the perfect addition to welcome spring into your space. Sometimes the simplest photos can be the best addition to your space!
The Setting Sun Beyond the Trees
As I went for an evening walk, I noticed the sun shining through some nearby trees. As I got closer, I realized it was actually the setting sun. I love how the color of the sky changes as the sun sets! It has elements of gold, white, and blue, and the shades of each color vary depending on where you look. A similar photo would go well in so many spaces! It would look great in a den, living room, dining room, or bedroom. And with the myriad of different colors, it goes with any decorating scheme. So what are you waiting for? Grab a camera, go for an evening walk, and get the perfect sunset picture for your space!
Where Grasslands Meet Wetlands
As I meandered from one trail to another I was amazed to see how the grasslands and wetlands became intertwined. Where one ended, the other began. There’s usually such a distinction between the two that when I saw the area pictured to the right, I just had to snap a photo! I love the golden hues of the grass in the foreground that’s sparsely populated by a few trees, followed by the reflective blue of the water. Further beyond that you can glimpse a neighboring island and clear, blue sky. A soothing, serene image like this would be great hung in a bedroom! The earth tones would go with any décor, and the beautiful imagery would send you off to sleep to a gorgeous, nature dreamland.
The Towering Tree Stump
This weekend I wanted to get out and enjoy the fresh air, so I decided to go to a park I hadn’t visited before. It had many trails and an abundance of wildlife, but as I meandered down one path I noticed an oddly shaped tree stump to my left. As I walked closer to get a better look, I noticed that this towering tree stump had a large gap in it. It looked like two wooden towers that merged together into one. Awesome! The warm hues of the wood, the green vines encasing the bottom of the trunk, and the pop of blue from the sky make this a great picture to hang on any wall. Despite what you might think, uniquely shaped trees and tree trunks aren’t too hard to find. You can find similar examples in most large parks. So what are you waiting for? With a little work you can snap a gorgeous photo that will brighten your space, and bring a little bit of nature inside!
The Cloudy Beach
When most people think of beaches they imagine sunny skies and miles of sand. However, as the photo on the right demonstrates, you don’t need those things to take a great beach photo. I discovered this beach after my journey through the woods mentioned in my previous posts. The beach was rocky and the sky was full of clouds. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the beach and its accompanying view. A similar photo would be a great addition to your space now that the seasons are changing. The muted colors go well with a fall/winter decorating scheme, and a beach is always a lovely picture. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and capture your own fall photos to update your space for the season!
Clouds in the Lake
While gazing out over the lake on the dock mentioned in a previous post, I noticed the sky reflected on the lake’s surface. What a great shot! I love how the bright blue sky and fluffy clouds seem to be part of the water itself. I’ve always liked photos that feature bodies of water reflecting the sights around it. These types of pictures are very versatile and can go with any room’s decor. You can find similar photos at craft or big box stores, or try capturing one yourself. If you’re going to snap your own photo, there are a few things to remember. If you take the photo in the daytime, it’s best to take the picture on a bright, sunny day at a place where the water is relatively calm. A similar shot can also be taken at night using lights reflecting off a calm surface. Photos like these are both an easy way to add interest to your space, and showcase your photography skills. Happy photographing!
The Sunset
I looked out my window one night around sunset and noticed the beautiful colors in the sky. I love sunsets that have different colors, especially the pinks and oranges featured in my photo. I also like the shape of the clouds and how they stretch across the sky. Not all sunsets are this colorful, but when they are it’s time to grab your camera! This type of photo would be great to display on a shelf or desk. It will give you a subtle pop of color and remind you of beautiful sunsets to come.
